January 2022- A Rewrite of the Past, Entering the Universal Year of Lo

Welcome to January 2022! My dear souls! We have now entered a new dynamic year! Pat yourselves on the back! You have made it past some intense and challenging times of this past year. This is no small feat.

As we usher in this new month in this new year, the universe is ready to breathe new life into your being. A fresh slate is upon us all. The choice to create and manifest our dreams is here! The struggles and hardships of the past couple years are ready to give way to new possibilities of honoring our strength and resolve! As I always say, "Tough times don't last, but tough people do!"

January 2022 is interesting because while it's a brand new beginning of anything and everything, the past is still calling on us to be recognized and acknowledged. Both Mercury and Venus will be retrograde for most of the month and this will certainly bring forth past issues, people and situations. A wave of nostalgia mixed with feelings of hope + promise is what this month holds.

Let me begin at the start of the month which holds a beautiful + prosperous light of faith around our personal power and tenacity.

On January 2nd/3rd, we have the lovely and hope filled New Moon at 12 degrees of Capricorn. New moons are bright rays of beginnings, fresh perspectives and the slate being wiped clean. Often in the days leading up to the new moon, we feel tense and uneasy. The reason for that is we have no moonlight to guide our tender and sensitive souls. When the moon becomes visible( as a crescent moon technically) we begin to feel nourished and supported again. Capricorn, the 10th zodiac sign deals with authority, structures, power and obligations. The New Moon in Capricorn is here to have us stand up for our own personal power and to lay down serious structures that support our long term plans. No other sign likes to plan and create solid structures as the reliable and practical goat! This new moon wants us to take our power back from anyone or anything that doesn't have long term potential and success written on it. This is a great new moon to begin a new business endeavor, restructure our finances or set up long term investment strategies. Whatever we take on around this time will have an air of practicality and sussenance.

Moving to the middle of the month, on January 14th, we have Mercury, the planet of the mind, contracts and communication turning retrograde at 10 degrees of Aquarius until February 3rd. Mercury will go all the way back to 24 degrees of Capricorn until he goes direct in early February. Mercury retrograde in Aquarius could bring back friends, inventions and groups from the past back into our lives. As with all Mercury retrogrades( we have 4 cycles of Mercury retrograde in 2022) the themes of: revising, redirecting, reflecting and repurposing will be prominent. A genius way of creating could come back around to be looked at with a new perspective during this time. Since Aquarius rules technology and the internet we could have some snafus within those areas in the form of outages, breakdowns and mishaps. For anyone whose Sun, Moon or Ascendant sign is between 24 degrees of Capricorn( where Mercury turns direct) to 10 degrees of Aquarius( where Mercury turns retrograde) will be particularly affected by this transit. On January 17th, we have the emotional and highly intuitive Full Moon at 27 degrees of Cancer. Full Moons are always highly emotional and charged with power of manifestation, endings and culminations. This one will be a doozy, as the Moon is the natural ruler of the sign of Cancer. Take it from me( I was born during a full moon in Cancer on its way to Leo) this Full Moon might be the most emotionally charged and sentimental one of the year. The Full Moon in Cancer will bring back memories from the past and we will be concerned with emotional nourishment and security at this time. Many deeply sensitive topics could come to the surface to be dealt with once and for all. Issues around our mother or mothering topics could be a highlight with la Luna full in the sign of the crab. This tender, sensitive moon will be particularly charged as she will be making an opposition to Pluto, the planet of transformation, power and intensity who is currently in the sign of Capricorn. The Full Moon in Cancer opposing Pluto in Capricorn could bring some serious security and "mommy/daddy" issues to the surface in a very intense and full on manner. Power struggles around honoring our emotions vs. keeping up with the Joneses could be big themes. For those of us born with the Sun, Moon or Ascendant close to the 27 degree of Cancer, then this Full Moon will be most felt and impactful. On January 18th, Uranus, the planet of innovation, shocks and invention turns direct at 11 degrees of Taurus. Since September 2021, the planet of curve balls and unpredictability has been retrograde and in turn creating uncertainty and surprises abound. Uranus direct in the sign of Taurus is here to bring in a new way of creating with our finances, sense of security and values. While Uranus and Taurus don't technically mix well as Uranus is all about freedom and Taurus is all about security, their meetup is awakening us to new breakthroughs around old values and structures in our lives. Any issues with investments or even new inventions with money( crypto for example) could see a major boost now. For those who have 11 degrees of Taurus as their Sun, Moon or Ascendant signs, expect to see a major wake up around your personal sense of security and survival instincts. On January 19th/20th, the Sun, which rules our ego, life force and vitality leaves the earthly realm of Capricorn and shifts into the airy domain of Aquarius. Aquarius, the 11th zodiac sign is known to be intellectual, freedom based, a genius, the inventor and a true humanitarian at heart. Happy bday to my fellow Aquas! Our shift will now move away from practicality and power over to thinking outside the box and the radical. Aquarius is a wild card. You never know what will come from our brainy + forward thinking perspectives. A desire to get out into the world and make a difference will also be prevalent as Aquarius is known as the humanitarian of the zodiac. Expecting the unexpected would be on par for the next 30 days or so.

On January 29th, Venus, the planet of love, beauty and pleasure, turns direct at 11 degrees of Capricorn. For the last 40 days and nights, the goddess of everything beautiful has been bringing up the past around our ideas with money, structures and power. Many folks could have seen the reemergence of folks, situations and issues from the past. Now as Venus ( as a morning star) turns direct, we will slowly see progress and forward movement in the previous areas mentioned. Just a word to the wise though, Venus will technically still be in her shadow period until early March 2022. She will also meet up with Pluto again at that time( 3rd times a charm I guess) so further issues around dominance,control and manipulation( especially around money, resources and business matters) could still be prevalent until that time. For anyone who has their Sun, Moon or Ascendant signs around the 11th degree of Capricorn, expect this transit of Venus direct to impact you the most. Finally on January 31st/Feb 1st, we have the forward thinking and progressive New Moon at 12 degrees of Aquarius. As mentioned above, New Moon energy is all about bringing in fresh perspectives, plans and the ability to start anew. Aquarius, the 11th zodiac sign, is again known to be intellectually spunky, a genius, unpredictable and innovative. The New Moon in Aquarius is here to open our eyes to new realms beyond our previous understanding or comprehension. A radical and out of this world perspective will be introduced at this time. The only grounding influence with this New Moon will be a conjunction to Saturn, the planet of structures, obligations and hard work, who is also in the sign of Aquarius. The New Moon in Aquarius conjunct Saturn in Aquarius could bring in some rather detached but solid ideas that could stand the test of time. A more somber emotional attitude will be the theme with the moon and saturn uniting. For those folks( haha welcome to the club again) whose Sun, Moon or Ascendant signs are close to 12 degrees of Aquarius, expect the unexpected with a dash of practicality from Saturn. January 2022 is a month where we begin anew with reflections and memories from the past. This is a wild month of new beginnings and at the same time, endings + completions. It is a weird paradox but somehow it describes astrological energies perfectly. January 2022 wants you to honor your immense strength and flexibility to face the unknown + to never lose your sense of faith and trust. This is easier said than done. Throughout all of the madness of these past couple of years, the universe wants to recognize and acknowledge you for your ability to never give up and to look forward to a brighter future. Rainbows can only be formed with rain. The past couple of years have taught you the meaning of gratitude and strength of will. January 2022 wants to remind you of how far you have come and the promise of what lies ahead. This will require faith and trust but everything worth something does. January 2022 is here to bring in new energy of tenacity and resolve, awaken your vulnerability + tenderness and the ability to think outside the box + shift your perspectives around creating a world that works for everyone.
